Lakeway Austin is located about 20 miles west/northwest of Downtown Austin along the shores of beautiful Lake Travis Texas. Once a sleepy retirement community, it’s now a small city that’s growing in popularity as well as size.
Highway 620 connects Lakeway Austin to Highway 71 and Bee Cave road to the south and Highway 183 and 2222 to the north. What I like about the location is that you can drive to the north side of Austin or the south side in just about equal amounts of time. Also, Lakeway has its own grocery shopping, mall shopping, restaurants and movie theater nearby.
The Lakeway Regional Medical Center will open in the Spring of 2012 as a full service hospital for the area.
Lakeway City Hall is conveniently located in the heart of Lakeway Austin. The Holiday Trail of Lights each year is open to the public, and you won’t want to miss the annual Fourth of July parade either.
Lakeway’s original shopping center still serves as a convenient shopping plaza and restaurant site tucked in among the neighborhoods.
Lakeway even has its own air park that is open to small planes, with hangers on site and even homes with airplane hangers facing the airstrip.
The Hamilton Green Belt winds its way throughout the city and creates nearly 20 miles of public trails for walking, jogging, bike riding or just enjoying nature. Beautiful waterfalls flow along Hurst Creek, which eventually empties into Lake Travis. Lakeway is an outdoor lovers’ dream come true.
With rolling hills, Lakeway homes often have beautiful hill country views, and you’ll appreciate the larger lots and privacy that almost every home enjoys.
If you like golf, you’ll love Lakeway. There are 2 courses within Lakeway, and 2 courses in the Hills of Lakeway and Flintrock. And, there’s a PGA course at Falconhead, located just a few miles away in Bee Cave.
If you like water sports, you’ll love Lake Travis. Launch your boat at the Lakeway marina or just rent a pontoon or jet ski for the day. Lake Travis is the perfect lake for swimming, kayaking, jet skiing, wakeboarding, sailing, kite boarding, fishing and just about any other water sport you can imagine.
Maybe you just love the water views. Lakeway Austin has many homes priced under one million with expansive Lake Travis views. Spend just over one million, and you can even purchase a waterfront home with your own boat dock. No matter what price range you’re in, Lakeway offers many different home choices starting just under $200,000. Older homes can often be found for lower prices, and many of them have been completely renovated and updated inside.
Unique architecture throughout Lakeway helps the area offer something for everyone in choice of home. New construction is also available, as Lakeway Austin offers a wide variety of custom homes.
If curb appeal is important to you, then Lakeway Austin has just want you want. City ordinances keep streets clean and tidy and rules enforced.
If schools are important to you, you’ll appreciate the Lake Travis Independent School District and its highly rated campuses. Lakeway Elementary and Serene Hills Elementary are located within the city limits and serve the neighborhood kids. Lake Travis Middle School and Lake Travis High School are just down highway 620 next to the brand new hospital. Remember, good schools help homes retain their value.
It’s a great time to buy a home in Lakeway Austin. The Market Action Index shows that conditions favor buyers as of August 2011, and although home prices have trended up since the year 2010, prices are still below the average solds of just a few years ago.
