How do you decide where to buy in Austin?  That really depends on what you want and what you can afford.  You may want a neighborhood close to work.  You may desire certain schools if you have children.  You may love water sports and want to be near a lake.  You may be concerned about resale value.  Read more about my neighborhood selection tips or dive right in to some home searches.

One of the most undervalued area of Austin right now is the Lake Travis area.  If you ever wanted to live in a top school district within 20 miles of Downtown Austin, now is the time to consider a home in Lakeway, Bee Cave & any other neighborhood in the Lake Travis Indepedendent School District.  Historically, this has been a pricey area of Austin due to its great schools & proximity to the lakes.  Sandwiched between Lake Austin & Lake Travis, most neighborhoods enjoy community access to the lakes through private homeowner parks.  Falling prices in this area will entice you to take a close look at buying or investing in this area.  It’s a beautiful area with most homes situated on larger lots.  More employers are expanding into the area, and what will become the second largest hospital in Central Texas is under contruction next to Lake Travis High School.  Homes in the area start in the low 200’s.

Other undervalued areas to consider include Central Austin, North Austin, Northwest Austin, South Austin, Southwest Austin and Westlake.
